Welcome to Troop 993's website! Troop 993 was chartered in 1958 by the Wesley United Methodist Church and has been proudly serving the community for over 50 years! The troop meets every Monday night at 7:30 p.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, located at 8412 Richmond Avenue, Alexandria, VA 22309. Troop 993 subscribes to the three aims of Scouting: Teaching boys values, citizenship and physical fitness. Additionally, the troop actively provides service to the community. We strongly adhere to the boy-run, boy-led troop philosophy, with adult leaders acting as mentors and advisors. There will be a parents meeting for Summer Camp participants from 7:30 - 8:15 pm on Monday June 9. We can meet outside at the picnic tables (weather permitting) or inside if inclement.

Gabe Kinlows Eagle Court Of Honor - June 20

Scouts and parents are invited to join Gabe to celebrate him achieving the rank of Eagle. His Court of Honor is Friday June 20 at the Walter Reed Community Center, 2902 16th St Arlington VA 22204. Scouts are needed for the honor guard and candle ceremony. Please support if you can. See the attached invite for more information.

Troop Canoeing Campout August 8-10

Please sign up if you think you can attend this fun campout, so we can make arrangements. We will camp Friday night, canoe Saturday and camp next to the river, returning home Sunday midday. Adults are needed to help move gear between campsites.

Cub Scout Day Camp - Youth Volunteers Needed

There is an opportunity to staff Accotink Bay Day Camp at Gunston Hall June 23-27. Scouts can earn upwards of 35 service hours.

This year's Day Camp theme is Invention Convention! We have stations like Games (team games, obstacle course), Scout Skills station (knots, compass skills, et cetera), Science & Nature or Arts & Crafts, and Water Rockets This is an excellent opportunity to showcase and build leadership skills with youth and adults.

Youth and adults should register as Staff. When you enter the name/address, there is a field to enter one’s age. Use code DCSTAFF25

Fill out two attached forms (Day Camp Staff Agreement, Day Camp volunteer application)
For Scouts 14+ year olds, submit proof of completion for

YTP (expires after July 2025)
Den Chief training
Hazardous Weather training (expires after July 2025)

For Scouts BSA under 14, submit proof of completion for

Den Chief training
Hazardous Weather training (expires after July 2025)
Must have a unit leader present.

All Scouts earn service hours for their work
